Holiday Comics – Forbidden Planet Mega Store, Bristol, UK
You know what’s good craic? Getting comics while on Holiday. I was in Bristol at the end of April for my Sister’s Wedding. Bristol’s a pretty cool place and isn’t short of Comic Book Shops but there’s one big one that stands out…
Where did I go?
Forbidden Planet Megastore Bristol
4 & 5, Clifton Heights, Triangle W, Bristol BS8 1EJ, United Kingdom
So, what’s it like?
With Megastore in the title, this was obviously gonna be a big one. All spread across the one floor with T-Shirts, Books, Art Books, Graphic Novels, Comics, Manga, Action Figures and other cool stuff.
I wanted that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina shirt but they didn’t have it in my size…
The Marvel Legends section was well stocked and fairly priced. There was a lot of stuff covered there, from Merchandise covering Video Games and Anime to popular TV Shows. My Dad was with me at the time and as hype for Game of Thrones – The Long Night was high (airing that evening), he picked up a Game of Thrones Mystery Mini Blind Box. He ended up with Cersai but a second purchase found him Tyrion so he was happy out there.
Comic Section has the usual wall of new releases, some space for recent(ish) issues and then a Wall for Variants. In place of a back-issue section, they’ve a blind bag section for comics.
So, what did I get anyway?
Meet the Skrulls #3
A blind bag of 4 comics – which contained a first printing of #1 of Paper Girls
Your Name – DVD
Unfortunately there wasn’t a back issue bin to go Skottie Young Variant cover diving in. I recently dropped Batman from my pull list but for whatever reason, this one appealed to me. I’ve been picking up Meet the Skrulls monthly since the Captain Marvel movie, never committing to the next issue until I read the previous, and getting the next any way. The £2 bag of comics had a first printing of #1 of Paper Girls in it!
I don’t really purchase DVDs much anymore but I’ve heard a lot of positive things about Your Name. Anime isn’t easily found back home so I took the f**k-it I’m on Holiday approach and picked it up.
